Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Lead Database Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for supporting Oracle, MySQL, Couchbase, AWS RDS, and other database systems in a 24x7 environment. You will play a crucial role in planning, implementing, and managing the physical databases of mission-critical OLTP and Decision Support systems, ensuring high availability and performance. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with Oracle databases, operational DBA skills, and a strong background in database performance tuning and troubleshooting.
You are all set to:
- Support Oracle, MySQL, Couchbase, AWS RDS, and other database systems in a 24x7 environment.
- Participate in on-call responsibilities (rotation) to support production systems.
- Plan, implement, and manage the physical databases of mission-critical OLTP and Decision Support systems. Conduct capacity planning to determine future storage needs.
- Monitor and improve database and application performance. Provide development and tuning support to implementation teams.
- Troubleshoot production performance issues and implement solutions promptly.
- Develop processes and procedures to enhance the stability and performance of the database environment and improve support for client teams.
- Ensure backup, restore, and recovery procedures are implemented and followed rigorously.
- Collaborate with internal and external clients to resolve database-related issues effectively.
- Occasionally work outside normal business hours and be available for on-call duties.
- Minimal travel may be required for systems and technologies training.
You bring in:
- Oracle/MySQL Certifications preferred.
- Operational DBA experience with Oracle 11G/12C/18C/19C RAC/ASM for 5+ years, with extensive hands-on experience.
- Some Operational DBA experience with MySQL.
- Experience in applying Oracle patches to Oracle RAC environments.
- Operational experience with Unix/Linux, Oracle Data Guard, and Golden Gate.
- Knowledge of Backup/Recovery procedures.
- Understanding of OEM Grid Control.
- Proficiency in Unix Shell scripting to automate operational DB tasks.
- Experience with SQL Server, MySQL, Couchbase, and Postgres would be a plus.
Ideally, you also have:
- Experience with AWS RDS or other cloud-based database services.
- Familiarity with database performance monitoring tools.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
